H. 3.0  cm (1 ¹/₈ inches)
Gold (14k) ; Total weight 3,90 gr
Late 19th century

A desk seal modelled as a harp in gold, the strings in twisted gold, the rest decorated with chiseled leaves and dotted frieze. The base moutned with an unengraved carnelian. Later converted as a pendant with a simple hoop.
The harp symbolized harmony and creativity. The god of Love, Eros is often depicted holding a musical instrument as a symbol of virtuous love.
Excellent condition.

For a similar harp seal see Wartski catalogue, MVLTVM IN PARVO, p. 176, n° 97—signed PIERRET, Rome 1880
